The University of Illinois at Chicago Athletics invites applications for the Program Coordinator, Compliance position. Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director, Compliance, the Program Coordinator, Compliance will assist in ensuring departmental, Student-Athlete and University-wide compliance with NCAA, Horizon League, University regulations and state and federal laws. This position coordinates the creation of various reports and collaborates with offices across campus on initial and continuing student-athlete eligibility, appeals and waivers; assists with NCAA and Horizon League rules interpretation and education, financial aid, recruiting, playing and practice seasons and other related duties as required.
•Facilitates the education of athletic staff members, student-athletes, representatives of athletics interests, and the community regarding NCAA and Horizon League rules and regulations; Provides rule interpretations to coaches and athletic staff members.
•Researches, prepares, and submits NCAA and Horizon League forms, reports and questionnaires.
•Assists the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with student-athlete financial aid and scholarship awards; Manages the Student Assistance Fund.
•Utilize the Compliance Assistant database and the ARMS Software to prepare squad, eligibility lists, monitor playing/practice season, recruiting, amateurism, awards and benefits legislation.
•Participate in the investigation and reporting of NCAA infractions, submission of legislative relief waivers, and in the administration of the annual coaches’ certification exam.
•Collaborate with ticket office on the complimentary event admissions process.
•Monitor and maintain compliance web page and compliance social media sites.
•Contribute to the production of the student–athlete handbook, athletics compliance policy and procedure manual and annual compliance team meetings and form completion.
•Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Demonstrated professional work experience in an Intercollegiate Athletic Compliance Office experience.
Direct knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.
Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations regarding compliance issues.
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
