Position Summary: •This position will supervise, train and instruct the cheer and/or dance squad to include proper training and performances of squad at all practices and required athletic events. Responsible development and utilization of the cheer and/or dance team budget; recruiting quality cheer and/or dance team members who meet admissions requirements and have the potential to graduate; assisting with managing cheer and/or dance team appearance requests both on-campus and within the community; help serving as liaison to the University of the Cumberlands Marching Band and Pep Band.
Responsibilities: •Administer your sport/area in total compliance with University of the Cumberlands, NAIA, and MSC regulations and guidelines. •Monitor and stay within the parameters of the dance budget. All purchases need to be approved by the head coach. •Assist with recruiting and retaining student-athletes. •Attend Athletic Department meetings. •Manage social media accounts. •Be a positive role model for athletes and monitor discipline procedures within your sport/area. •Encourage/monitor attendance and academic performance as directed by the head coach. •Assist with annual inventory. •Conduct yourself in a professional manner and display good sportsmanship at all times. •Fulfill all obligations, as established by your program, for the NAIA Champions of Character initiative. •Assist in planning practices, player development strategies, and performances/competitions. •Be loyal and supportive of the Staff, Faculty and Administration. •Cooperate and communicate with the Athletic Training Staff. •Assist with the supervision of other athletic/university events as needed by the administration. •Assist with social media for cheer and dance teams. •All Other duties as assigned.
Experience on a collegiate dance/cheer team and/or experience coaching on a cheer/dance team, studio, etc.
Demonstrated talent in building cohesive teams;
Independent decision making and ability to exercise good judgement;
Good written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete assigned tasks and meeting deadlines;
Organizational skills, time management, relationship building, and communication skills essential;
Willing to work hours.
