The Graduate Assistant (GA) will provide support and assistance to administration within the Athletics Department. The GA receives full graduate school tuition covering a maximum of 36 credit hours as well as a monthly stipend. Job duties are: aids athletic administration in a particular area (i.e., media relations, facilities, compliance, marketing, etc.); assists with daily office duties and game day duties as assigned; attends and participates in staff meetings; maintains a positive and professional working relationship with athletic staff and student-athletes. Additional duties are to manage all aspects of athletic communications for assigned sports in addition to serving as athletic communications assistant for all other sports. Duties will include statistical input, archival and distribution to required entities; writing press releases, event previews and recaps; producing weekly game notes and game programs; handling media requests; and create and distribute social media graphics and content. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission). PREFERRED: Knowledge of University and NCAA rules and regulations; possess the requisite qualities for the profession; be able to handle a high workload in a demanding environment and be well organized; excellent interpersonal skills; be able to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and issues; and able to work independently.
