The Head Athletic Trainer/Director of Sports Medicine will provide and/or supervise Medical Care of student-athletes under the direction of the Team Physician and the administrative direction of the Director of Athletics. This person will identify the professional medical service needs of the entire intercollegiate athletic department regarding the scheduling and coordination of athletic training staff for all team practices, competitions, and Sports Medicine Center treatment and rehabilitation. This individual will also have practice and game/event coverage as well as travel, and the prevention, assessment, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries sustained by UAPB Athletes. Administrative responsibilities include budget oversight, inventory control, and electronic medical records management. This includes maintaining student-athlete insurance information, as well as good communication with the insurance providers and manages all paperwork required for claims. This person will also need to develop and maintain emergency action plans for all permanent and temporary practice and competition venues. Along with that they also may need to develops new or maintain in place department guidelines, policy and procedure in accordance with best practices and consensus statements.
This is a salaried position, paid out over 12 months. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, life and disability, and retirement coverage options. The university also offers full-time 90% tuition discount for university classes and 50% for spouses and dependents.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related discipline, (Preferred) Master's degree in athletic training or related discipline, minimum three (3) years of demonstrated full-time professional experience working in a collegiate sports medicine setting, and must include one (1) or more years of supervisory and administrative responsibility.
