West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Sports Information Director. A member of NCAA Division II and the Mountain East Conference, West Virginia Wesleyan has a storied athletics history in the orange and black, and now sponsors twenty-two intercollegiate sports. Located in Buckhannon, West Virginia, West Virginia Wesleyan features a beautiful 100-acre campus of red-brick Georgian architecture.
The Assistant Sports Information Director position is a full-time, 12-month staff position, that will manage the rosters, schedules, statistics, and storylines of all twenty-two West Virginia Wesleyan intercollegiate athletics teams, and report information on relevant platforms. The individual in this position will be a storyteller, discovering the most creative ways to inform and engage the supporters of West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics through media sources. This position has been opened to increase the engagement with West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics, the individual that will be selected for the position will enhance the Sports Information Department in this manner.
•Manage rosters, schedules, and statistics for all 22 Athletics programs through the NCAA and wesleyanbobcats.com
•Write previews, recaps, and personal interest stories for wesleyanbobcats.com
•Maintain media contacts with relevant and local news stations, and Sports Information departments at opposing institutions
•Assist in the creation and management of all West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics media, including photography, graphics, and video
•Live-stat all home competitions
•Produce live broadcasts of all home competitions
•Use social media platforms to enhance reach of content, and engagement with content
•Report to the Director of Sports Information, assist in planning of content, and execute assigned tasks
•Manage student-interns each semester
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Sports Management, Communications, Marketing)
•Experience within an Athletic Communications/Sports Information office
•Extensive knowledge of collegiate athletics
•Relevant experience with Sidearm Sports, PrestoSports, StatCrew, and NCAA LiveStats
•Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
•Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
•Diligent and organized working habits
