LeTourneau University is seeking a qualified, industrious and enthusiastic Christian professional to lead the Women’s Soccer program to conference and national prominence. The Head Women’s Soccer coach is responsible for the teaching, management, conduct and supervision of all phases of the NCAA DIII intercollegiate men’s soccer program in a manner that upholds the Christian philosophy and objectives of the University. Through leadership and the establishment of sound coaching strategies and teaching methods, the coach will provide instruction in the spiritual, academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes at LeTourneau University.
Primary duty is to provide instruction to student-athletes in skills of the game of soccer and to prepare them spiritually, academically and athletically for success. These duties include: •Establishing coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student athlete’s skills and teamwork. •Planning, organizing and coaching the LeTourneau University men’s soccer team. •Preparing women’s soccer student-athletes in the analyses of opposing teams and plans strategies accordingly. •Instructing women’s soccer student-athletes in game management •Preparing student-athletes physically and mentally by instructing proper strength and conditioning •Instructing student-athletes in sportsmanship and ethical behavior •Monitoring and supporting student-athlete academic progress •Counseling team members in disciplinary, academic, and personal matters while consulting with LETU administration on matters requiring resolution of problems •Providing ongoing team-building activities •Developing mental toughness in student-athletes •Developing the spiritual, academic and athletic aspects of student-athletes
Secondary duties include: •Directing, coordinating, and supervising the women’s soccer staff •Ensuring compliance with the University, Conference and NCAA policies and regulations •Recruiting and retaining highly skilled student-athletes consistent with the LETU philosophy and standards •Meeting annual recruiting goals •Determining fiscal requirements and budgetary recommendations while monitoring, verifying and reconciling expenditures of budgeted funds •Coordinating the scheduling, planning and management of contests with the Director of Athletics •Creating and providing documents, reports and information required for program and department functions •Participation in department and team fundraising •Coordination of and working with student-athletes to provide service opportunities on campus and in the community •Performing other duties as requested by the Director of Athletics
Demonstrate ability to lead student-athletes in their Christian spiritual development
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sport of soccer
Ability to effectively teach soccer during practice sessions
Demonstrate competitive coaching skills in area of expertise
Skill to recruit and retain highly skilled student-athletes
Ability to utilize information technology and display computer skills
Skill in communicating effectively in oral, written and electronic means
Knowledge of NCAA, Conference and Conference regulations and guidelines
Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
Ability to effectively counsel student athletes on requirements for personal, academic, and athletic success
Ability to prepare, submit, and maintain accurate reports, records, and documents required by the Department
Skill in public relations that build, support and promote the program to the internal and external community
