Mary Baldwin University’s Department of Athletics is seeking applicants for a Graduate Assistant position for the Sports Information office during the 2020-21 academic year.
This individual will report directly to the Director of Athletics and will perform tasks assigned, including but not limited to: writing and editing press releases, compiling game and season statistics and records, overseeing the athletics website and social media, coordinating photography, videography and web streaming, reporting as appropriate to the conference office, NCAA and other organizations and other duties as assigned.
The Sports Information graduate assistant will work closely with all coaches as well as the MBU Student Engagement and Office of Integrated Communications staffs.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have exceptional writing and communication skills as well as having knowledge/skills in managing web/social/digital platforms and associated content. The successful candidate should have knowledge of and prior work experience in intercollegiate athletics. The candidate must be highly organized and detail-oriented and possess strong customer service skills.
This is a 10-month position beginning in August 2020 and is renewable for a second term for a two-year appointment. The position includes an annual stipend, a complimentary meal plan and an 18-hour tuition waiver (contingent upon acceptance into the Masters of Education graduate program or the MBA program). This does not apply to other Masters/Doctorate programs at Mary Baldwin University. A Bachelor’s Degree, valid driver’s license, First Aid, CPR and AED certification required and the candidate must successfully pass the University’s standard background checks.
