The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a Graduate Assistant – Men’s and Women’s Soccer position. This position reports directly to the Men’s and Women’s Head Soccer Coaches for all matters related to the Soccer program and will work closely with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, faculty, administration and staff..
JOB SUMMARY: This is a 12-month position responsible for collaboration with the head coaches of the Men’s and Women’s Soccer program, including the administration of day-to-day aspects of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III soccer program. This includes a commitment to the student-athletes’ academic progress and degree completion.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Student development theory is used to create, plan, and implement educational, social, physical and cultural programming designed to enhance the overall experience and achievement of both undergraduate and graduate students. These means are accomplished through the following specific duties:
•Assist in the management of the day-to-day activities of an NCAA DIII soccer program in coordination with the head coaches •Work with the goalkeepers for both programs in individual training and assessment •Stay updated and compliant with all NCAA Division III rules and regulations. •Recruitment of student-athletes in compliance with UNIVERSITY and NCAA DIII policies & procedures •Practice preparation •Scheduling and travel arrangements •Work with the Faculty Athletics Representative •Coordinate with other offices on campus including Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Registrar •Participate actively in campus events and on university committees in order to support the University community and provide a leadership presence •Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Administration •Serve as event day administrator as assigned •Design, market and manage summer youth camps and clinics in coordination with the head coaches •Serve as facility monitor for safety and well-being of participants in athletic activities
Working conditions: Position requires irregular office hours including after-hours and weekend work to attend competitions, practices and university events. Office hours will be established in consultation with the Head Coaches of Men’s and Women’s Soccer. Physical requirements are those of a normal office.

Education and Experience:
· A Bachelor’s Degree is required with an emphasis in Kinesiology, Sport Management or a related field preferred.
· The successful candidate must also have excellent verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
· Must have the ability to relate and interact with a diverse group of students.
· Basic proficiency level in Excel and Word software with the ability to prepare Word documents and spreadsheets.
· Experience playing soccer including goalkeeping experience preferred.
