The Athletic Business Manager is an advanced professional accounting position within the Athletic Department. This position serves as a major coordinative point for analyzing processes and suggesting solutions as well as works on a variety of special projects by performing the following duties personally or through others. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties: Initiates and performs reviews of general ledger journal entries and account analysis and review while assisting athletics personnel with accounting adjustments, questions and concerns. Creates monthly/regular financial reports for all sport programs and athletic administrative accounts. Work with the MSSU Foundation to monitor, track, and utilize Foundation accounts for Athletics. Initiate, review and maintain all fiscal documents including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, accounts payable invoices, and related work flow. Ensure all athletic accounting transactions have proper departmental codes and signature authorizations. Accounting transactions include but are not limited to: procurement cards, travel reimbursements, invoices, petty cash requests, requisitions, and purchase orders.
Processes and assists the Bursars office with all athletic deposits (ACH, Cash, Check, Paypal, or Credit Card). Prepares all athletic Purchase Card transactions for the approval of monthly statements and reconciliation of receipts. Work with each sport program and athletic staff to initiate, process, and reconcile all team and individual travel. Assists in the audit preparations including audit work paper preparation and any solutions to audit findings. Discusses, reviews and revises athletic accounting practices with the Treasurer and the accounting office staff while offering suggestions and solutions and serve as a liaison for a variety of issues. Assumes responsibility for special projects as assigned by the Athletics Director. Responsible for creation, maintenance and review of athletic financial policies and procedures; evaluates and modifies internal procedures and systems of the control and audit of financial accounts in compliance with University, state and federal laws and regulations. Makes presentations and conduct staff training seminars for athletic staff regarding their responsible operating budget. Assist and coordinate the preparation of all budgets on an annual basis. Prepare required financial reports as requested for the university, conference, NCAA and/ or government. Maintains capital asset listings for athletics department to report to the Business Office. Performs other related duties as required.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.
Minimum of three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required; or any combination of education and experience.
Must have valid Driver's License and ability to meet the university's insurance requirements for driving university vehicles.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
