The Richard Bland College of William & Mary is currently seeking a Head Women’s Soccer Coach. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all phases of the women’s soccer program in accordance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and philosophies. Richard Bland College is a member of the NJCAA and a member of Region 10. Primary duties include the education and development of the student athlete. This includes instruction on how to: perform their sport, balance academic and athletic commitments, and maintain their health, and work as a team both in their sport and as part of the school.
This position’s major responsibilities include:
Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes, meeting the annual college-identified recruiting goal for the soccer program, without surpassing established budgetary parameters. Ensure compliance with all internal and external policies, rules and regulations. Lead the development and management of the team budget. Ensure timely submission of student academic records for admission. Develop strategies to motivate individual and team athletic performance (along with appropriate personal and social conduct) both on-campus and off-campus. Plan and execute practices and game preparation, and coach in all games. Provide management and direction to assistant coaching staff and training personnel. Coordinate team travel and maintain required documentation in compliance with College policies and procedures. Plan and conduct soccer camps. Actively participate in campus programs, and manage the development and coordination of community service projects for team members. Due to being a small department other ancillary duties and responsibilities will be assigned. These duties will adjust based on experience and availability of athletic staff. Other duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s Degree • Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision and RBC-19 goals. • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at RBC. • Prior coaching experience (High School or College) or collegiate playing experience • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff and students • Valid driver’s license • Demonstrated experience developing an exceptional student-athlete and fostering the positive growth of players in all aspects of their athletic and academic lives • Previous teaching experience at the college level, including classroom and online teaching • Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision and the goals of the RBC strategic plan
• Demonstrated record of coaching excellence, service, and leadership • Background and experience working within a collegiate recreation and/or athletic department • Experience with the management of students and complex student schedules • Working knowledge and understanding of NJCAA policies and procedures
