Virginia Military Institute invites applications for an Assistant to the Athletics Director for Operations, Support and Logistics.
This is an administrative staff appointment in the Virginia Military Institute Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The position reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, and works closely with cadet athletes, coaches and the administrative staff.
Responsibilities & Duties:
•Work closely with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics to synchronize intercollegiate program operation within the educational system and schedule of VMI.
•Have comprehensive knowledge of, and adherence to, all NCAA, VMI and Southern Conference rules and regulations.
•Department liaison to the Commandant’s staff.
•Coordinates daily activities for cadet athletes and teams through regular interaction with the Commandant’s staff, ROTC and other Institute offices. Develops weekly schedules for cadet athletes and intercollegiate programs and disseminates comprehensive notification report each week.
•Serve as point of contact for home football game assignments for cadet athletes.
•Works closely with the Professors of Military Science specific to cadet athlete participation consistent with VMI academic standards and NCAA rules.
•Has supervisory responsibility for strength training and conditioning staff.
•Has supervisory responsibility for sports medicine staff.
•Has supervisory responsibility for all indoor track events and any Southern Conference championships.
•Contributes to the department’s game management and operation efforts.
•Serves on VMI committees as needed.
•Assists the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics with any reports and/or presentations as needed.
•Other duties as assigned.
Salary based on qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree is required
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree, or evidence of near completion of a graduate degree, is preferred.
