Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Facilities and Events

POSITION SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Associate Vice President for Campus Wellness and Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports, the Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Facilities and Athletics Events will be responsible for staging and hosting more than 100 home athletic contests each year, including regular and postseason tournaments, as well as numerous special events, including fundraising and alumni functions, department meetings, and campus activities. The Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Facilities and Athletics Events will work closely with Facilities Management in managing and operating the facilities for the Department of Athletics, including those facilities used for intercollegiate athletics, intramural and sport club programs, and recreational activities. Essential Functions Statement(s) Maintain key working relationships with coaches, staff, visiting teams, patrons, and external constituents in regards to events. Develop and implement protocols for hosting a variety of home athletic contests, including needs of home and visiting teams, officials, fans, event staff, and concessions. Identify, train, and supervise athletics event managers and student event staff. Develop and train staff to respond to emergencies at home athletics events. Attend home athletic contests prepared to address needs as they arise. Exercise sound judgment in handling cash and controlling crowd behavior. Set up and tear-down facilities for various events, including athletic contests, recreational activities, meetings, and other special events. Schedule facilities; evaluate facilities for continued operational effectiveness; coordinate work requests for custodial and/or maintenance staffs. Submit bids for NCAA post-season championships. Supervise NCAC Conference and NCAA post-season championships. Assist in the implementation of philanthropy-based events hosted by teams and partnerships with external and community constituents at athletics events, with the office of communications and the assistant director of athletics communications. Direct all aspects of game day and special event management across multiple sports and events. Manage and coordinate athletics department interns. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Minimum of four years working in athletics/sports/recreation required. Prefer at least two years in a college athletics setting. |
