This position reports to the Vice President, Compliance and Risk, and is responsible for the oversight of a comprehensive athletics compliance program and management of the Athletics Compliance Office. Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of an effective athletics compliance program including standard operating procedures, policies, and documentation to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, university policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective comprehensive compliance education plan for coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, athletics boosters, and university personnel regarding NCAA, conference, and university policies and procedures.
- Implement and oversee monitoring efforts to evaluate compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies and procedures. Recommend and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented as needed.
- Responsible for the investigation and reporting of alleged violations of NCAA regulations to the Vice President of Compliance and Risk, Athletics Director, NCAA, and other university personnel as appropriate.
- Perform regulatory research and provide an interpretation of NCAA and conference requirements.
- Oversee all compliance areas including amateurism, recruiting, financial aid, eligibility, extra benefits, and playing and practice seasons. Develop and coordinate the university’s sports agent registration process and acts as university liaison with sports agents.
- Provide oversight and monitor for compliance related to student-athlete: admission; initial / continuing eligibility certification; financial aid; housing; dining services; book distribution/return; vehicle registration; and exit interviews.
- Manage and ensure the integrity of responses to information and documentation requests from the NCAA, conference, and internal and external auditors.
- Work collaboratively, build and maintain relationships with all levels of management within athletics and across the university to coordinate compliance activities, accomplish objectives, provide support and guidance, and facilitate the resolution of problems as needed.
- Serve as a senior member of the University Compliance, Ethics, and Risk Office and the Athletics Department providing support of institutional and departmental goals and objectives.
- Represent the University of Central Florida and UCF Athletics Association to the UCF community, Central Florida community, other schools, and the general public.
- Oversee, manage, develop, and hire athletics compliance staff, graduate assistants, and interns.
- Responsible for appropriate policies and procedures applicable to compliance with NCAA and conference requirements. Provide regulatory research, review, and interpretation as it applies to NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of an effective athletics compliance program including standard operating procedures, policies, and documentation to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, university policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- With oversight from the VP, Compliance and Risk, responsible for the management of the athletics compliance office spending and budget.
- Frequent internal contact with athletics and university personnel. Frequent external contact with the NCAA, conference, vendors, boosters, local high schools, and others to accomplish compliance-related activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 4+ years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 6+ years of relevant experience; plus at least 3+ years of leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have: - Strong knowledge of NCAA regulations.
- Excellent analytical ability; research and decision-making; and oral and written communications skills.
- Experience in preparing and delivering presentations.
- Possess a high degree of professionalism, meet deadlines, and demonstrate the ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel including some team travel and evening and weekend work.
- Experience maintaining a Division I Athletics Compliance Office
