General Information
-Compensation consists of a tuition waiver, a stipend for a full-time Graduate Assistant (GA) and a meal plan Summary Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications/Sports Information Director (SID) and in close coordination with the Director of Athletics, the graduate assistant for sports information is involved in all aspects of gathering and disseminating sports information. The graduate assistant for sports information maintains regular contact with Hood College’s 22 NCAA Division III teams and coaches to provide information to the media, the campus and the public, and assists with the athletics website, video streaming and editing, social media and game day operations. Responsibilities include developing favorable media attention and image for the various sports teams, coaches and the athletic department utilizing a variety of communications media and other appropriate outlets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes assisting with the following. Other duties may be assigned. Sports Information (100%)
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Sport Management, Journalism, English, Communications or Public Relations. Experience in athletic media relations and/or video editing a plus. Accepted into a Master’s Degree program at Hood College required. Technology Skills Proficient in office productivity suite software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), e-mail and Internet; desktop publishing, Adobe Creative Suite, PrestoSports and/or Sidearm content management system, video editing, and working knowledge of StatCrew, PrestoStats and/or Genius. Ability to learn new applications quickly including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications. Language Skills Proficient in the communication of key concepts for the specific discipline in the English language and ability to assist students with English as a secondary language. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customers both in person and by phone. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies. Mathematical Skills Basic analytical skills and ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts in a timely and accurate manner. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to hypothesize, draw conclusions, and support conclusions.
