The graduate assistant in this position will develop skills in human relations, supervision skills, public presentations, and communication and documentation skills. This position will serve as an academic mentor to academically at-risk student-athletes, monitor study hall and enforce rules, assist with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and assist the Student Services staff with various events and initiatives. The ideal candidate is one seeking a career in athletic academic advising and/or student affairs. Candidate must be available for evening and weekend events and comply with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Acceptance into SIUE Graduate School; must maintain a 6-12 hour course load per semester
Evidence of sound organizational skills
Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public
Previous involvement in student activities or leadership development experience
Demonstrate effective communication and computer skills
Previous academic services/tutoring experience
Acceptance into SIUE's College Student Personnel Administration graduate program
Experience as a collegiate student-athlete
PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT: 10-month appointment beginning August 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022.
SALARY: $913 per month stipend. Includes tuition waiver.
