Assistant Men’s & Women’s Track & Field /Cross Country Coach Full time position Job Description
Purpose: The individual in this position is responsible to assist the head coach with the Track & Field/CC programs at Vincennes University. This position reports directly to the Head Track & Field/CC Coach.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: •Strong interpersonal and communication skills. •Strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students and the community. •Skills in organization, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Primary emphasis on identifying, recruiting, retaining and mentoring successful student-athletes with diverse populations. •Assisting the head coach in developing a unified athletic program within the university. •Assist with building a positive team culture, including instructing and requiring from all students participating in sports, the highest standards of citizenship, sportsmanship and conduct. •Assist with monitoring student-athlete’s academic progress, including study tables. •Assist with conducting all events in the assigned sport according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA, Region XXIV and Vincennes University. •Assist with instructing and skill development during practices and meets, Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to instruct, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively. Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic. This job requires traveling and must have a valid drivers license.
