The Success Coach’s primary focus is to work as a key resource for academic coaching for student athletes. The coach will partner with faculty, the Athletic Director, and coaches to support student athlete success and retention. The position is part of Educational Support Services and reports to the Director.
Responsibilities/Expectations: • Assisting target students in navigating university administration. • Monitor and tracking student progress to stay current to persist and graduate. • Outreach to high risk students in crisis to promote early intervention and support. • Targeting outreach to various at-risk student athlete populations to support and engage their transition to AU, with sensitivity to diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and international student populations. • Providing guidance to develop student athletes spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and culturally, in order to prepare them for a life of faith and service. • Connecting with the Athletic Director and coaches to determine plans for interventions and to ascertain at-risk students. • Collaborating with other campus support offices, like the Cultural Resource Center and the First Year Experience mentor, and assisting student to connect with campus resources • Work closely with the Director of Educational Support Services to help monitor the progress of students on Academic Probation and fulfillment of probation requirements. • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred, other relevant experience considered. Candidate should have excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivated. Must meet university lifestyle expectations
Benefits: This 12-month, 100% FTE, position is eligible for University benefits.
