Duties/Responsibilities: The graduate assistant will assist the Media Relations office with the promotion and publicity of the college’s 18 sports. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Serve as the primary media contact for at least two sports; Writing and editing press releases and games stories; Producing game programs; Managing content on the athletics website (mercerbears.com); Compiling in-game statistics; Maintaining Mercer University athletics social media accounts; Facilitate with setup and takedown of equipment; Managing home events; and Operating computer programs including SIDEARM, Adobe Creative Suite, NCAA LiveStats, and StatCrew.
Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred majors include journalism, public relations, communications, sports management, business administration or a related field of study.
Acceptance into a Mercer University graduate program.
Expected work hours include evenings, holidays and weekends and some travel.
Preferred experience in intercollegiate athletics media relations/sports information.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects and Lightroom) software.
Experience in writing/editing and strong written/oral communication skills.
Familiarity with SIDEARM, Stat Crew / NCAA LiveStats software.
