Head Coach, Women's Basketball

The Head Coach for Women’s Basketball is responsible for all aspects of the women’s basketball program. The University of Tulsa is a NCAA Division I institution with 17 varsity sports (10 women’s and 7 men’s) including FBS in football and is a member of the American Athletic Conference for all sports. Responsibilities include: ensuring the women’s basketball program is in compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, American Athletic Conference, and the University; performing as a positive role model for student athletes while establishing a productive, well-rounded environment which stresses the importance of academics in conjunction with athletics; establishing a professional relationship with students, staff, alumni, and the general public in an effort to promote the University and its athletic program and managing an efficient budget. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

• Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the University’s women’s basketball program
• Develop and implement programs and procedures with respect to the evaluations, recruitment, training, and coaching of student-athletes in the women’s basketball program that enables them to compete successfully
• Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes
• Direct the women’s basketball staff in preparation and analysis of game opponents
• Assign and supervise the basketball staff in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
• Direct, coordinate, and monitor the activities of the women’s basketball coaching and support staff, and assess performance, including responsibilities relating to employment and performance appraisals
• Recruit student-athletes that are prepared to succeed academically at the University
• Encourage student-athletes to perform to their highest academic potential and to graduate in a timely manner
• Ensure compliance with University, American Athletic Conference, and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations
• Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budget recommendations for the women’s basketball program
• Work closely with Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance in the prevention and care of student-athletes
• Represent the University to prospective student-athletes and their families, students, alumni, donors, and the community
• Engage in fundraising, development, and public and alumni relations on behalf of the University and the Athletics Department
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or the Director’s designee
