The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Creative Director to support the Football program. The Creative Director will lead the visual brand strategy, storytelling, and creative development for the Virginia football program. The position will oversee all program branding, social media, graphic design, video production for the University of Virginia Football program.
The Creative Director for Football will report to the Head Football Coach with a dotted line to the Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations. The position will collaborate with the department’s external units to coordinate all strategy, production, and execution of Virginia Football content. The Creative Director for Football works closely with the Director of Player Personnel to coordinate and produce content to support the Virginia Football recruiting efforts with a primary focus to inspire recruits, fans, and donors to action.
This position oversees a Football creative team, including a multimedia designer, social and digital video content producer, and multimedia interns.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Works actively to produce creative content to tell the story of Virginia Football.
Oversees storytelling, brand building, and fan engagement efforts on all digital platforms.
Leads creative strategic planning, project management, and design for the Football program.
Serves as a member of the external unit’s content team.
Serves as a liaison to the social media committee for Football.
Captures and produces photo, video, and design to support creative content plans.
Leads all creative content, motivational videos, and recruiting-specific video production.
Develops and oversees content calendar and creative plan for Football.
Collaborates with external team on Football brand building and marketing plans.
Leads Football creative recruiting content efforts.
Collaborates with Football video coordinators on practice and coaching video content.
Collaborates with creative media team on all Football special projects.
Oversees creative direction for all Football photo shoots, video content, and broadcast production.
Hires and trains student creative staff and interns.
Oversees creative team staff for Football.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in video production, creative design, communications, technology and/or a related field is required.
Experience in creative software (Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
Experience in operation of video cameras, photography, audio recording, and an understanding of college athletics.
Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate, and work effectively with diverse constituents.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to work non-standard hours and travel.
Prior experience working with collegiate and/or professional football programs in a similar creative role.
Prior experience in video directing, filming, and editing.
Prior experience in graphic design and creative content production.
Experience with basic audio techniques used in on-camera interviews and in voiceover situations for post-production projects.
Passion and understanding of current trends.
