The Director of Communications & Creative Content for the College of Charleston’s Athletics Department oversees all day-to-day operations related to public relations and communications, and generates targeted creative materials and marketing campaigns. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to speak, read and write clearly and concisely. • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Familiarity with InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, image-editing and web-editing software • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines • Strong initiative to solve problems • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives • Ability and willingness to build rapport with diverse group of student athletes, coaches, administrators, media, and other key constituents • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders, particularly students and other on campus groups • Proficient in copy writing, editing using AP style guidelines, proofreading and composition • Ability to work in a fast paced environment that includes night and weekend hours • Ability to gain and maintain working knowledge of University, CAA, and NCAA rules and regulations • Ability to gain and maintain working knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts • Knowledge and proficiency in scorekeeping, inputting and compiling statistics for all sports using a variety of different programs such as CBS StatCrew, Golfstat and NCAA Live Stats, etc. • Digital photography experience is highly preferred. • Experience with SideArm platform is highly preferred. • Experience working with coaching staff and administrators on a daily basis is highly preferred. • Working knowledge of university, CAA, and NCAA rules and regulations is highly preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of applicable experience are required. Master’s Degree in journalism, communications or related field is preferred. Background in athletics communication or sports information positions involving media relations, printed materials development and production, athletics event reporting, project management and statistical information development is greatly preferred.
