Asst. Director-Communications will serve as the primary media contact for the women’s basketball program, as well as other sport programs, while contributing to the overall storytelling and content strategies to promote a positive image for Utah Athletics under the direction of the Associate A.D. for Strategic Communications.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, sport management or a related field. Minimum of three years in a college athletics communications office.
Demonstrated experience in athletics communications • Experience working with media to position sport programs for positive media coverage • Extensive knowledge of and the ability to: o Create engaging social media content o Creatively produce and manage the design, layout, content and flow of multiple publications for multiple platforms (web, e-mail, podcasts, digital audio & video, digital photography, graphics, social media and print) o Work collaboratively with other external relations and digital/creative media staff (e.g. marketing, video, social media) on campaigns and projects
Excellent communication and organizational skills; proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign/Photoshop), StatCrew and NCAA Live Stats statistical software and digital asset management programs; basic knowledge of various social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) as well as website content management systems, preferably SIDEARM; considerable initiative, creativity, independence and love of sports.
