Description The Director of Sales is responsible for generating revenue for the OBU Athletics Department by overseeing a comprehensive sponsorship sales plan utilizing all available advertising and promotional assets. The director is expected to maintain OBU’s existing level of sponsorship revenue while achieving additional growth via new corporate and business relationships, as well as appropriately pricing current advertising inventory. The successful candidate will execute advertising and sponsorship sales and fulfillment on behalf of the Athletics Department, create and cultivate positive business relationships (current and new), prospect potential sponsors, and develop and present innovative sponsorship packages. With metrics-based accountability, the Director of Sales will assist our partners in making an impact on OBU Athletics and the student-athlete experience on Bison Hill.
Additionally, the Director of Sales will play a leading role in selling group tickets and premium seating opportunities for OBU athletics events.
The Director of Sales will report to the Associate AD for External Operations and serve as a senior member of the External Operations team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities of the Director of Sales may include, but are not limited to:
Generate revenue for OBU Athletics
Prospect, develop and sell corporate sponsorship opportunities to local and regional businesses
Create annual plan for renewal and new business
Coordinate and execute sponsor fulfillment
Prospect, develop and sell premium seat tickets to businesses and individuals
Develop compelling marketing materials as sales tools
Evaluate current and potential sponsorship/advertising inventory and develop appropriate price structure based on market
Entertain and steward existing and prospective partners at OBU athletics events
Develop clear understanding of OBU brand positioning and create sales tools/collateral that reflect and promote those values
Successfully leverage use of social media to assist with sales efforts
Assist Assistant AD for Fan Engagement with on-campus and community appearances and promotions as necessary
Work closely with Associate AD for External Operations and Assistant AD for Fan Engagement on prospecting and sales
Requirements Demonstrated sales ability, preferably with experience in a collegiate or professional sports setting … experience with metrics-based fundraising/sales … high level of understanding of social media platforms … general accounting experience with budget oversight and expense account management … fully-versed in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint … knowledge and experience with presentation software platforms (Keynote, PowerPoint, etc.) … flexibility to travel and work nights and weekends as needed … broad working knowledge and familiarity with NCAA and Great American Conference rules and policies.
