BALL STATE ATHLETICS - EXTERNAL UNITS GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP
DESCRIPTION Ball State University is seeking a motivated and qualified candidate with a growth mindset for a graduate assistant position with the athletics department, focusing on marketing and fan engagement but with support for tickets and communications, beginning with the 2021 Fall semester. The athletic external units graduate assistant plays a key role in the success of the Ball State game day experience for our fans. Responsibilities: •Assist with game day and event management operations of assigned sports •Creation and implementation of marketing and promotional plans for assigned sports •Plan, develop, execute and organize in-game promotions •Assist with the creation of marketing materials (social media graphics, promotional items, flyers, etc.) •Produce game day scripts and public address announcements •Distribute promotional materials to Ball State campus and Muncie community •Assist with special events including, but not limited to, the Indiana State Fair, Fan Jams, Orientation, Admissions Preview Days, Welcome Week, etc. •Collaborate with Spirit Squads and Ball State Pep Band at home athletic contests •Assist with student section: The Nest •Manage all mascot duties (uniform orders and cleaning, appearance requests and scheduling, tryouts etc.) •Help, manage, and supervise sports marketing student staff •Assist in the social media efforts of the department •Assist Ticketing Staff when needed •Assist Communications Department when needed •Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: •Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year institution •Admission into a Ball State Graduate Program •Ability to work weekends, in the evenings, during school breaks, or on holidays. Preferred Qualifications: •Prior experience working within a college athletic department or professional sports team •Experience with Adobe Creative (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) •Daktronics video board software •Experience with sales and content or journalistic writing
