Job Summary In this position, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing and administering the flow of athletics news to multiple constituents. The selected applicant must also be to interact and communicate with other administrative staff members and the coaches of the various athletic teams. He or she must have strong communication skills. Russell Sage College is an NCAA Division III member of the Empire 8 Conference, while men’s volleyball is a member of the NECC and our esports program competes as a member of NACE and sponsors 21 intercollegiate varsity sports. Position Summary: The assistant director of athletic communications/coordinator of new athletic multimedia will assist the Director of Athletic Communications in the day-to-day operation of a collegiate sports information office with a main focus on the athletics department multimedia functions. Primary duties and responsibilities Serve as the communication source for a select number of teams, which includes but is not limited to preparing pre-game information, post-game news releases, scheduling of photographers and feature story ideas for both the website and media. Keep in-game statistics for selected sports. Setting up filming equipment for web streaming athletics events. Hiring and assigning student workers to help assist in keeping in-game statistics Responds to statistical and other report requirements for the NCAA, Empire 8, NECC, NACE, as well as intercollegiate opponents, and the media. Assists in the publicizing of athletic events. Responsible for daily updating on www.SageGators.com, the official online home of Sage Athletics. (A PrestoSports Site). Utilizes social media sources including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to promote Sage’s athletic programs, student-athletes and alumni. Assists in supporting the brand of the College by ensuring the use of target messaging in promotional materials, including the website, social media and promotional and recruitment efforts. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the assistant director of athletics communications and the director of athletics. Preference will be given to those with a strong background in photography and graphic design skills. Essential Job Functions Work closely with the Director of Athletic Communications in all aspects of the Sports Information office. Manage the athletics department photography needs. Manage the athletics department video webcasting and video highlights needs. Manage the athletics department social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram while also working with coaches to develop individual sports social media pages. Assist with game day management for all sports. Oversee and manage a student staff of interns and work study students. Ability to effectively communicate with the coaching staff, administrative staff and outside constituents. Availability to work evenings and weekends in addition to the regular day. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to write, edit and/or develop articles, reports and publications. Ability to effectively supervise student personnel and complete all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and reports. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work well with supervisor, coworkers, coaches, campus community and the public. Preference will be given to those with a strong background in photography, video editing, graphic design, feature story writing and NCAA Live Stats scoring software.

A bachelor’s degree is required. It would be preferred that the candidate has excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills with previous experience working in a sports information office. The candidate must have the necessary skills to effectively utilize the administrative computer systems, such as, Microsoft Office products, Stat-Crew and/or Automated Scorebook, NCAA Live Stats, web and publication design products (Adobe Creative Suite) and the Internet.
