Under the direction of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, the Director of New Media will be responsible for creating social media and content for all teams of Southern Utah Athletics. The successful candidate will build and promote Thunderbird Athletics through various social media platforms. Desired content will be athletic department announcements, game highlights, promotions and other posts that will help build the SUU brand. This position will also work closely with SUU Athletics video and other team members to market and promote all functions of SUU Athletics.
Proposed Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Develop a strategy for social media for all athletic teams at Southern Utah University by utilizing multiple social media platforms. 2) Supervise graduate assistant and video intern. 3) Collaborate with coaches and sports information to develop content to support social media and web distribution needs. 4) Collaborate to fulfill the needs of Van Wagner/Corporate sponsorship team needs via promotional posts on various mediums. 5) Create branded departmental content to showcase the student-athlete experience at Southern Utah University. 6) Package content to showcase all sport programs, athletics facilities, support services, etc. 7) Innovate new ways to promote athletic-related activities 8) Collaborate with university marketing and communications team to ensure a unified message and promote special projects. 9) Willing to bring energy, positivity to the daily grind of a challenging job
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree with an area of study in media design, multimedia, video, graphic design, communications or a related field.
One (1) or more year(s) of experience as an employee, graduate assistant or intern is preferred.
Ability to tell stories through graphic design, social "stories" and video.
Candidates must possess good interpersonal communication skills.
Possess knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and Microsoft Office.
Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student and athletes, media and vendors.
Must have strong organizational, management and leadership skills.
Proven ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
Must have an outstanding work ethic and strict attention to detail.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, and available for possible to travel with sport teams for selected away contests.
