West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV is currently inviting applications for the following employment opportunity:
Head Women’s Basketball Coach a non-classified, full-time and benefits eligible position.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
- Complete duties which include total responsibilities as required for an NAIA Division I or NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Program. - Attend all departmental meetings. - Prepare NAIA and/or NCAA, institutional scholarship award forms and submitting signed contracts for scholarships. - Evaluate talent in current and prospective student-athletes. - Organize and conduct a strength conditioning program. - Provide compliance director with freshman and returning player's information to complete eligibility form. - Coordinate team meetings, athletic study halls for Women's Basketball athletes, strength and condition work outs, etc. - Monitor the academic progress, retention rates and graduation rates of Women's Basketball players. - Be responsible for discipline and conduct of student-athletes participating in Women's Basketball players. - Remain current and adhere to all Institutional, NCAA and/or NAIA rules. - Be responsible for annual inventories and preparation for equipment purchases according to state purchasing policies. - Be responsible for all travel arrangements and taking care of travel expenses according to state policies. - Have fundraising responsibilities and work with outside groups to receive funds for athletics and Women's Basketball. - Maintain a competitive Women's Basketball program. - Be responsible for recruiting quality student athletics that meets the criteria established by the Athletic Administration
Work Hours: Monday- Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of study - Five (5) years of successful basketball coaching experience. - One (1) year Head coaching experience. - Collegiate experience preferred. - Experience coaching women's basketball preferred. - Three (3) years recruiting experience. - One (1) year experience in Athletic administration, Fundraising, Public Relations, and conducting women’s basketball camps/clinics. - Ability to use Computers. - Ability to drive student-athletics and/or other students to medical appointments, team activities and/or athletic events, when needed. - Ability to work positively with administration, athletic department staff and Director of Athletics in developing and maintaining a good working relationship with the institution and the community.
Valid Driver’s License required to transport student-athletics and other students.
