Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Communication, and working as part of the Athletic Communication team, this position will be responsible for statistics, publications, social media, media relations, and website maintenance for the Department of Athletics.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain statistics for all sports, working in-game for all home events and tournaments and handling other information as needed for road games. Provide pre- and post-game information to fans and media. Live Stream all home athletic events when possible.
Write and edit various department communication materials, including but not limited to; press releases, game notes, individual athlete and coach biographies, and content for the website.
Manage and maintain gobattlers.com, the athletics department website (Alderson Broaddus is a Sidearm client).
Maintain historical records, statistics and photographs among other important department information.
Support and oversee nominations and promotion of student-athletes and coaches for awards, including weekly conference honors.
Oversee, hire, and manage a team of student-workers, student-interns and work-study students.
Maintain AB Athletic social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), and oversee individual sport social media pages.
Serve as the primary contact between AB Athletics and media outlets to disseminate information and invite them to home events and press conferences.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Previous experience working in college athletics, professional sports, or other communications-related position
Good understanding of collegiate athletics with the ability to work in a face-paced, stressful environment, with many non-traditional hours
General knowledge of NCAA, and Mountain East Conference rules and regulations
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop), Statistical Software (StatCrew, Genius Sports, and NCAA Live Stats), Website content management systems (preferably SIDEARM), and a basic knowledge of various social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook)
