Looking for your next career challenge? We are excited to be recruiting a Manager, Media & Public Relations who is passionate about leveraging marketing and communications capabilities to position MSK as a leader in cancer treatment, patient care, and research.
Reporting to our Senior Director, Media & Public Relations, you will:
Highlight MSKs leadership, clinicians, researchers and staff by pursuing national and local media relations activities.
Prepare clinicians, researchers and staff for top-tier, consumer and trade interviews and speaking opportunities through media training, general guidance, narrative development and sharing of best practices.
Draft news releases, announcements, and other external communications materials related to updates and advances across MSK.
Keep on top of key scientific and academic publications by following top tier medical and scientific journals.
Follow breaking news and trends related to relevant topics in cancer science and clinical care and develop proactive strategies to amplify.
Work collaboratively with Marketing & Communications colleagues in Content & Editorial, Special Events, Internal Communications, Social Media, Marketing and other functions by regularly sharing stories and ideas, developing content, and amplifying stories about MSKs experts and innovations across integrated channels and capabilities.
Create content, content strategy and manage the media teams content calendar for our external News & Information page, taking into consideration key MSK narratives, the cadence of key scientific and clinical publications, highlighting MSKs presence at major medical and scientific meetings, attending these meetings and sharing of high- level awards and honors. The role is a key contributor to the integrated Marketing & Communications content team.
Liaise with faculty and staff to identify practice-changing advances and innovations, scholarly publications, patient stories, and other information that illustrates the quality of MSK Care.
Support initiatives to advance communications goals, including news items, biographical statements, digital multimedia storytelling, news releases, social media, and more.
Develop and pursue thought leadership speaking opportunities and op-ed strategies for MSK leaders, clinicians and scientists.
Assist in managing our external agency of record, including oversight over our monthly metrics reports.
5+ years of experience in media relations, communications, and related fields, preferably supporting healthcare clients, in-house or at an agency.
Keen interest in science and advances and trends in clinical oncology.
Knowledge of marketing and content analytics.
Comfort and literacy in science, health and cancer topics; proven ability to translate complex subject matter in these areas for lay audiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative spirit, solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to communicate across all levels.
