Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) is a growing and vibrant organization with a statewide footprint. We are a sports organization and so much more, transforming lives through the power and joy of sport, every day, everywhere. Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization with nearly 4 million individuals with intellectual disabilities in more than 170 countries – 16,000 athletes, here in Missouri. We are a global social movement with initiatives to activate youth, build communities, and improve the overall health of our athletes. We’re changing the game for people young and old and asking you to be a part of it all.
Special Olympics Mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics Athletes and the community.
