Position Description Assists in providing leadership and direction for an assigned area within the athletic department. Responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of the department. Responsible for employees in the assigned area.
Manage the athletic hiring process for job postings and assist with interviewing/applicant selection.
Assist athletic staff in maintaining current position descriptions and performance evaluations in the university's performance management system to support a high-performance culture by establishing clear expectations, providing feedback, and encouraging productive behavior.
Partner with the university’s office of human resources to resolve critical and time-sensitive employee relations issues.
Manage Employee of the Month Wall and/or other employee recognition initiatives as directed by Senior Executive Staff.
Manage professional development training sessions as requested.
Support and partner with key members in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives and goals.
Evaluate reports, decisions, and results in relation to established goals.
Recommend new approaches and procedures to support continual improvements in department efficiencies and services performed.
Oversee onboarding/offboarding process for full-time athletic employees.
Ensure new hire paperwork, including E-Verify, is completed on time and in compliance with university policy.
Educate the department of changes as appropriate.
Conduct periodic audits of departmental human resources activities to ensure compliance with the university's policies and procedures.
Identify appropriate titles while maintaining compensation compliance per the university’s pay plan.
Answer routine requests for information on policy interpretation.
Maintain organizational charts and the staff directory for athletics.
Ensure all athletic staff and student employees are in compliance with EEO and Title IX training per university policy.
Stay up-to-date and in compliance with all NCAA, Big 12, and employment-related federal, state, and university laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Three (3) years experience in an intercollegiate athletics department or other work experience that would demonstrate the necessary background and knowledge. Must have a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Human Resources experience in higher education
Demonstrated leadership skills and supervisory experience.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the department.
Ability to work with a sense of urgency and bias towards action in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
SPHR or PHR certification SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification.
Experience within collegiate athletics and/or Power 5 conference.
