This position works with the Student-Athlete Services team to provide academic support to assigned teams. The position also assists coaches, athletic administrators, university administrators, and faculty with any and all concerns as they relate to the academic needs and overall development of the student-athlete.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities • Coordinate the academic support program/services for assigned varsity team(s). This includes, but is not limited to: communicating with faculty via telephone, email and in person regarding student-athletes’ academic progress; monitoring student-athletes’ continuing eligibility and satisfactory academic progress; recommending effective learning strategies to enhance student-athletes’ academic skill set; communicating with coaching staff on an as needed basis; maintaining weekly mentor meetings with student-athletes in academic jeopardy; assisting student-athletes with course selection and registration; evaluating student-athletes’ progress assessments. Work with the Associate AD for Academics and SAS and the Assistant Directors of SAS to assist with academic support and study hall. • Coordinate travel letter correspondence for assigned sports, report to faculty on SAs missing class due to injury, illness, surgery, etc. as needed. Attend scheduled SAS staff meetings and be part of the SAS team. Monitor all student-athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities and behavioral health concerns and assist with accessing accommodations approved through the Office of Accessibility Services. Monitor evening and Sunday study hall for freshmen and select upperclassmen as scheduled. Perform checks for class attendance as scheduled. Manage tutoring assignments for all student-athletes. Report and facilitate all tutoring and additional learning support services received by student-athletes. • Assist the sport programs in talking with prospective student-athletes, parents, and/or guardians about the academic services provided at BGSU at scheduled recruiting functions. • Communicate NCAA and MAC rules and regulations on satisfactory progress and eligibility with college academic advisors, coaches, SAS. Address university staff and faculty members concerns related to student-athlete issues. • Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle use policy.
The following experience is required:
One-year experience working with intercollegiate student-athletes and/or diverse groups of people in an academic setting. Two years of Graduate Assistantship experience accepted.
Master’s Degree preferred in counseling, special education, sport management, college student personnel, or a related field.
Previous experience working in student-athlete services with football preferred.
