The Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Athlete Success is responsible for the organization and administration of the Athletics Department's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) compliance program. The Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Athlete Success certifies eligibility, monitors coaches activities relative to rules compliance, and interacts with departmental staff members and coaches to ensure compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. The position is also responsible for overseeing the Director of Athletic Communications and staff ensuring that all athletic communications meet communication goals and all brand standards of Rhodes College Athletics.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Administer, communicate, and maintain compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations and communicate and maintain department standards of excellence.
Utilize knowledge, research, and interpretation of NCAA regulations and bylaws to prevent NCAA rules infractions.
Educate administrators, coaches, and student-athletes regarding current NCAA regulations and administers the NCAA annual rules test to appropriate department personnel.
Develop, communicate, and maintain departmental standards of excellence, including updating the department handbook.
Serve as a liaison to the conference office and the NCAA office on compliance matters, research regulation questions raised by coaches and student-athletes to provide them with accurate answers in a timely and efficient manner.
Monitors and verifies student academic progress to meet NCAA and university eligibility, alerting student-athletes and coaches potential student-athlete concerns.
Oversee the onboarding and offboarding process for the athletics department.
Serve as a member of the Athletics Department Leadership Team.
Research best practices in the industry and makes recommendations on strategic initiatives.
Supervision of the Director of Athletic Media Relations and Department.
Along with Director of Athletics serve as liaison with the Director or Athletic Giving.
Assist with game management at some events.
Assist with oversight of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Serve as a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame Nomination and Planning Committee.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Rhodes College requires all employees to be vaccinated for COVID-19 with exceptions for medical or religious reasons, which will be handled on a case by case basis.
Bachelor's degree is required.
At least three years of administrative experience in intercollegiate athletics is required, preferably at a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member institution.
A demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics is required.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
Management and organizational skills are required.
The ability to compile data and prepare, write, and review reports is required.
