Georgia Tech SASS is currently seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director (Academic Support Coordinator II). This position will work directly with Men's Basketball and will oversee the daily operations and functions of academic support for this sport. In addition this position will work closely with the Associate Director of Academic Services in assisting with Academic programs, which will include but is not limited to office of disability testing for student-athletes, freshman summer transition program, and peer tutor recruitment. Essential functions will include the following duties for assigned sports: Individual Academic Support, Academic Eligibility, Certification, Individual Academic Advising and Student-Athlete Support Programming for Men’s Basketball.
This position will interact on a regular basis with students, staff, and faculty. This position typically will advise and counsel students and staff. This position will supervise assigned staff.
Plan, design, and coordinate a range of programs and services that support student academic endeavors.
Lead the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating tutors, SI leaders, and student assistants.
Oversee data management/assessment for all academic support programs.
Develop and request crystal reports for reporting, assessment and evaluation purposes; and ensuring data are stored securely and in compliance with OIT and Institute guidelines and policies.
Coordinate all operations and logistics in assigned tutoring area, including managing tutoring reception desk, departmental tutoring rooms; oversee technology and A/V equipment that support tutoring programs.
Oversee marketing materials and communication efforts for tutoring and academic support programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Three to four years of job related experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Master's degree preferred.
Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).
Familiarity with a student information systems and tutoring scheduling software is preferred.
This job requires advanced knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices; working knowledge of student development theory and advising practices; advanced knowledge of provision of academic support services; advanced skills in office related computer applications; familiarity with basic skills in data analysis and descriptive statistics; strong verbal and written skills; excellent customer service, leadership, and supervisory skills; ability to communicate with diverse population of students, staff, and faculty.
