The purpose of the Director/Assistant Athletics Director of Event Operations is to oversee and manage the daily operations and budget of the athletics event operations department.
Responsibilities include, not but not limited to, the oversight of all athletics events, special events, camps, and special projects. Serves as event manager for assigned sports, oversight of all event or game management needs of the department for internal/external events. Oversees event scheduling and policy creation/review. Additionally, the Assistant Athletics Director of Event Operations must demonstrate personal accountability, including (1) compliance with the compliance staff directives and (2) adherence to Athletics Department and University policies as well as NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules and regulations.
On site manager at internal/external events. (Essential 15%)
Oversight for Big 12 Conference and NCAA post season events. (Essential 10%)
Correspondence with internal/external constituents. (Essential 10%)
Establishing staffing plans and operations plans for events. (Essential 10%)
Monitoring athletic department facility activities. (Essential 5%)
Set-up/Tear down of event equipment and facility needs for events. (Essential 5%)
Phone and other correspondence to event questions and concerns. (Essential 5%)
Budgetary review of all event budgets and planning for special events. (Essential 15%)
Experience with facility/event scheduling.
Experience with contracts, 3rd party staffing and operations.
Able to multi-task with various projects while maintaining high accessibility and approachability
Excellent internal and external customer service skills to ensure that events are in line with the goals of the department
Goal and Task Oriented
Competent on the spot decision making and problem solving
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays on a frequent basis
Ability to communication professionally with administrators, coaches, staff members, and students
Negotiating/working with external entities
Direct communication style; able to give clear specific directions in hectic settings
Basic budgeting and accounting skills
Good written and verbal reporting skills for project evaluations
Valid drivers license to attend meetings

Must be able to lift 15-50 lbs
3-5 years Event Management and Operations experience
3-5 years with collegiate venue operations and facility operations.
Ability to work with little to no supervision on a daily basis
