Averett University Athletics is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as an Assistant for the Sports Information Department. The Assistant SID will be responsible for all aspects of this Division III program including, but not limited to, assisting the Director of Athletics Communications in day-to-day operations; game day events and historical record keeping; written, video and other multimedia content for the website AverettCougars.com and social media; multi-camera webcasting setup for home events; administrative projects and duties, and alumni and community relations. The full-time assistant will also be responsible for helping with teaching, mentoring, training, scheduling and managing a student workforce of federal work study employees, interns from communications and sports management classes/practicums and student volunteers. Averett sponsors 17 NCAA varsity sports and three varsity club sports. The successful candidate must be able to develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media, alumni, parents and sponsors while interacting successfully with department personnel and the University Community.
Minimum qualifications include;
Prior experience in a college sports information department or similar field, knowledge and commitment to following NCAA, ODAC, and University rules and regulations. Experience with stat programs (Stat Crew, NLS, Presto) is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. As a condition of employment, Averett University requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
