New Jersey Institute of Technology, an NCAA Division I institution located in the University Heights district of Newark NJ and member of the America East Conference is accepting applications for the position of Athletics Operations Manager. This individual is responsible for daily oversight and administration of the Athletics & Recreation facilities at NJIT. This role provides support to assigned Athletics facilities related to day to day operations, event management, scheduling, and maintenance. This team member will serve as a key member of the athletics management team and reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director. This individual will initiate and build positive working relationships with coaching staff, athletic administrators and staff, campus administrators, faculty, as well as student employees.
Essential Functions: •Work in conjunction with University facilities management in the upkeep and enhancement of athletics facilities; tracking and monitoring work orders and maintenance requests, and assist with department capital, special projects and facility renovations. Serve as the department’s daily and primary liaison to all areas servicing the Wellness and Events Center and the other athletics facilities. •Oversight and supervision of athletic contest management and special events with a special focus on providing first class event management for all sport programs. This includes the recruitment, hiring, and training of student employees and the implementation of strategic customer service initiatives to enhance the spectator game day experience. •Approves all space requests, sets and manages all athletic building hours of operation and meets with coaching staffs and Associate Director of Physical Education on a regular basis to assign and confirm all space schedules. •Coordinate and schedule all athletic facility rental groups assigned by Athletics. Furthermore, work collaboratively with the Office of Conference Services in their utilization of athletic facility space for on-campus events. Manage the department’s scheduling software. •Serve as departmental liaison with campus public safety, police, campus catering, and facilities systems for building security and facility access. •Serve as the “on-call” facility manager for Athletics events. In the absence of senior athletic administrators, this individual will serves a primary game administrator. •Responsible for planning, the implementation and execution of NCAA, America East, EIVA, and Southland Conference (Tennis) championships events held at NJIT. •Ensure indoor and outdoor playing surfaces are in the best condition for practices, competitions, events and scheduled activities. •Coordinate the communication with custodial services, and set-up and break-down crews for special events, athletics events and meetings. •Coordinate the student employee program within the department, including posting job descriptions and submitting weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll student payroll. •Serve as the primary liaison to departmental and campus preferred vendors assigned to perform annual maintenance or project enhancement work. •Serve on select campus committees Additional Functions: Performs other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree required
Two to three years experience in event or facility management, preferably in athletics or recreation
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and delegate duties when necessary
Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize assignments and be attentive to deadlines
Excellent verbal, written skills, and computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications
The ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary
