- In concert with the Sports Information Director, the Assistant Sports Information Director is responsible for athletics communications via social media, the Athletics web site (fightingfalcons.com), live streaming via Blueframe Production Truck and announcements/press releases related to the Department of Athletics and its 17 intercollegiate sports; - The Assistant Sports Information Director will serve as media contact for assigned sports within the department; - The Assistant Sports Information Director will take a lead role in the social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) for the Department of Athletics at Fairmont State University. This includes planning, implementation, graphic design, and video production using the university's branding standards; - Adheres to NCAA Division II, Mountain East Conference, and Fairmont State University rules and regulations for its 17 sport programs as it relates to all aspects of athletics communications; - Seeks professional relationships with media that will benefit the visibility and reputation of the athletics program; - Works with coaches and athletics staff to identify, prioritize, establish, and accomplish sports communication objectives; - Supports athletics department with external media relations and photo days; creating and developing press releases, game notes for media, record books, game programs, sports schedules, posters, athletics recruiting materials, and other athletic department printed material; - Interacts effectively and responsively with coaches, student-athletes, campus staff, students, and community members; - Gathers, maintains, and posts NCAA required statistics; adhering to all NCAA rules, regulations and expectations; - Maintains team and individual records and photo archives; - Operates in-game scoring statistical programs (stat crew, NCAA Live Stats); - Assists with marketing and development initiatives and contributes to the overall strategic initiatives of the department; - Performs related work as assigned or as necessary;
Bachelor's degree in sport management, communications, or other related field. Two years' experience in college athletics communications (experience may include time spent as a graduate assistant)
