This Executive Associate Athletic Director/Sr. Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, as member of the athletic department’s senior leadership team, will provide strong vision, leadership, management, coordination, execution, and oversight of the department’s external units.
This position will have direct oversight of the following units:
Athletics Marketing and Promotions
Broadcasting and Interactive Media
Corporate Sales and Sponsorship
This position will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination between these external units to support the strategic priorities of the athletic department which includes (but is not limited to) increases in attendance, revenue growth and competitive brand positioning. Additionally, the incumbent will be charged with collaborating, consulting and partnering with University Marketing and Communications so that all marketing and communications efforts support the goals of the university as a whole.
Other essential responsibilities include:
Lead the strategy development and management of the department branding and licensing initiatives, in collaboration with the University’s marketing team
Manage the public relations efforts of the athletic department Create a team-oriented work environment amongst the external operations units
Work collaboratively with athletic development and University Advancement to enhance game-day experience for donors and on other external initiatives
Sports administrator for a designated sport program
Bachelor's degree required in Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in marketing, development, communications, sales, or equivalent leadership experience
Proven ability to manage multiple units and to work cooperatively with various internal and external constituents
Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills
Direct experience in Division I athletic department or professional sports organization
Master’s degree or advanced education
Experience in creating or overseeing the creation of communications strategies, marketing plans, brand strategy or ticket sales and service plans
Experience with budget management
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required. Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Knowledge of NCAA athletic regulations
