Job Description
Senior Underwriter - Contract Surety - Home Office
Information about the Position
We are currently recruiting for a Home Office Underwriter for Contract Surety middle to large markets in the North America and Latin America territories. The senior underwriter will be accountable for contributing to the achievement of the Contract Surety business plan including new business, renewal retention, pricing and profitability. The senior underwriter will report directly to the SVP Major Markets, Contract Surety. This position to be housed in our Morristown NJ location, with several days per week of remote as option.
What YOU Will Do:
Gather, review and analyze all necessary underwriting information to conduct proper risk selection, exposure analysis and premium determination for risks within the defined appetite and defined authority.
Develop and grow the Contract Surety middle to large market initiative.
Manage and grow the current book by servicing existing accounts and pursuing new business in collaboration with the field offices.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned field offices and agents/brokers.
What YOU Will Bring to C&F:
A minimum of three years experience working within a Contract Surety underwriting department.
A college degree is required, preference in Finance or Economics.
Must possess strong financial, communication, negotiation, customer service and relationship building skills.
Must possess strong computer skills in Excel, Word and Internet research.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Existing agency relationships a plus.
Travel will be required.
