Senior Underwriter - Contract Surety
The position is a customer facing Underwriter for Contract Surety middle to large markets in the West Coast territory. The underwriter will be accountable for contributing to the achievement of the Contract Surety business plan including those concerning new business, renewal retention, pricing and profitability. The Underwriterwill report directly to the Regional UW Director. This position can be remotely located in CA, AZ, CO, OR, or WA states.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Gathers, reviews and analyzes all necessary underwriting information to conduct proper risk selection, exposure analysis and premium determination for risks within the defined appetite. The underwriter will operate within a defined authority. The primary responsibilities also include:
Develop and grow the Contract Surety middle to large market initiative.
Manage and grow the current book by servicing existing accounts and pursuing new business.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned producers and cultivate new relationships.
A minimum of three years experience working within a Contract Surety underwriting department.
A college degree is required, preference in Finance, Economics.
Must possess strong financial, communication, negotiation, customer service and relationship building skills.
Must possess strong computer skills in Excel, Word and Internet research.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Strong agency relationships a plus.
Travel will be required.
