Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides oversight of the Human Resources, Business Operations, Legal Affairs and Facilities and Events Management for the Athletics Department. *
Monitors the administration of the department’s human resources and fiscal operations insuring conformity to State, University and departmental policies, procedures and practices in consonance with departmental goals and objectives. *
Provides leadership and direction for the athletic facilities ensuring a collaborative working environment among sports programs, support services departments, other University departments, vendors and the general public.
Responsible for reviewing athletic program administrative matters relating to but not limited to contracts, agreements, sport guarantees, etc. Works closely with University General Counsel to ensure contracts and agreement are legal and to form.*
Responsible for oversight and direction in managing the Athletics Department Master Calendar.*
As assigned by the Athletics Director, serve as Sports Administrator of assigned sports programs to provide leadership and counsel to coaches on a broad range of daily, on-going and annual administrative services of assigned sports while ensuring excellent academic and competitive performance. Conduct annual performance evaluations and end of season evaluations. *
Provides leadership and oversight for sport program’s camps and clinics. *
Oversees the management of preseason and post-season competition/contests for all sports programs. *
Assist the Athletics Director with scheduling and negotiating football games. *
Responsible for managing and updating the Athletics Department Operations Manual which includes departmental policies and procedures and coach’s handbook. *
Cultivate and maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college and University offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, business community, elected officials and donors. *
Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies. *
Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act. *
Know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if there are reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others, have occurred or will occur. *

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, athletics administration, physical education, recreation, education or related field from an accredited college or University;
- Three (3) years of athletic administrative experience at the Division I collegiate level, or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Demonstrated fiscal integrity and expertise and adhere to fiscal policy.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate/recognize problems or challenges and identify/implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrated strong administrative, communications and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds including but not limited to people of all ages with various ethnicities, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated commitment to thorough understanding of, and implementation of programs and procedures to ensure full compliance with the NCAA, conference and institutional rules, regulation, and procedures;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the role of intercollegiate athletics as part of a university educational experience;
- Demonstrated commitment to promote and maintain an environment where the physical, mental, social and academic well-being of the student-athletes are a priority.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, organize, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations effectively.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations government in intercollegiate athletics as well as knowledge of facilities management;
- Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education, business administration or other related field; or terminal degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to understand and work effectively in Hawai‘i’s multi-cultural society.
