Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Excellence

This position will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director and will develop initiatives and programming to promote comprehensive student-athlete development, leadership, community service and wellness. Must understand and comply with NCAA, GLVC and UIS rules & regulations.
Duties: Develop & implement a comprehensive 4-year program for student-athlete holistic development including academic success/advising, career planning & education, leadership development, financial literacy, etc. May include facilitation of academic advising & overall support for student-athletes progress toward degree. Collaborations may include: Academic advisors, professors, tutoring and other campus support groups, assistant AD for Compliance and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. Direct the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) & other student-athlete leadership groups. Includes creation orientation planning, annual leadership/development programming, end of year recognitions, and development of peer mentorship program. Develop and manage all community service activities including engaging with local elementary schools and other non-profit youth organizations. Event/game management duties as assigned Other duties as assigned Environmental demands:
Function in an office environment. Ability to work evenings and weekends at athletic contests or other special events.

2-3 years of professional work experience in intercollegiate athletics preferred; collegiate playing experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills required
Excellent organizational and teamwork skills required
Ability to collaborate with multiple campus departments, relate to diverse populations, and work reliably and independently with minimal supervision
