Duties include:

Develop and direct comprehensive communication and promotional activities for the Department of Athletics in accordance with the values, mission, and vision of the department and university leadership. Cover all responsibilities typically handled by a Sports Information Director for a department currently sponsoring 15 NCAA Division III sports and a complement of USCSA Ski & Snowboard Teams. Coordinate in-game statistics and post-event reporting for all sports we sponsor: baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, women's lacrosse, soccer, softball, track and field using Stat Crew/comparable software as required by the conference, leagues, NCAA and/or other governing bodies. Recruit student workers/interns, to train, schedule and supervise as part of the event staffing for all home contests. Also train, schedule and supervise professional staff members with “assistant” responsibilities in these areas. Responsibilities of the “game/press crew” typically includes: statistical recording, scoreboard operations, announcing, music, filming/webcasting, and other related tasks such as photography/videography. Work collaboratively with event management to cover staffing/hosting home contests. Write event previews, post-game summaries, press releases, and feature stories for both internal and external media. Develop relationships with local media and pitch story ideas to local, regional and national media as appropriate. Manage a dynamic website and produce appropriate social media content to grow target audiences and track analytics that supports the investment. Design and edit a variety of print/electronic publications, including but not limited to: game programs, recruiting, alumni relations and revenue generation materials. Coordinate photography, videography and web-streaming production. Plan and administer promotional efforts for home contests/special events. Nominate student athletes, teams and staff for conference recognition and all applicable awards in their respective sports/organizations (athletics, academic, community service, NCAA Postgraduate and such). Administer department senior awards process, manage department awards, and memorabilia as well as athletic records and archives for effective projection and recognition of significant milestones by student-athletes and department staff. Serve as the Administrative Assistant for and a voting member of the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee. Produce programs/flyers both print and digital/multimedia presentations for events such as the Athletics Hall of Fame and other special events, including but not limited to the year-end all sports recognition. Develop and implement effective means (with coaches and others) of identifying and highlighting alumni outcome stories. Work closely with the Director of Athletics and athletics staff to generate ideas and develop print/electronic materials that support priorities, initiatives, reports, and special projects as directed. Participate as an integral member of the Department of Athletics. Collaborate with marketing/promotions staff to meet Admissions and Alumni and Advancement needs in regular and intentional ways consistent with values and brand (University and Department).

Athletics Eligibility Officer is primarily responsible for tracking/monitoring rosters with regards to student-athletes' academic performance, eligibility and seasons of eligibility in compliance with University and NCAA DIII regulations, regular full-time enrollment and transfer tracers. They provide data related to annual required reports such as: NCAA Retention and Graduation Rates, Sport Demographic and Sponsorship, Financial Aid. Additionally, EADA and other program assessment/participant demographics of interest (institutional research) may be expected.

• Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of applicable experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience 
• Significant experience in college sports information and related public relations, media and marketing areas
• Thorough knowledge of sports terminology and rules
• Ability to manage and redesign a dynamic website to employ social media for recruitment of student-athletes and other targeted promotional needs (parents, alumni, community, advancement, and media)
• Strong writing, self-editing, and desktop publishing skills
• Proficiency with Stat Crew
• Fluency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat
• Photo and video editing skills sufficient to produce high quality digital/print promotional materials.
• Ability to assess, learn and implement new relevant media, graphic, and statistical information technology. 
• Team player who communicates well with diverse sets of internal and external stakeholders, and who will collaborate with colleagues and work well with both clear and ambiguous directives of department leadership to solve problems and achieve agreed upon goals
• Alignment with and ability to effectively promote department mission and values including but not limited to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Preferred:

• Educational background in journalism and marketing
• Experience and ability to take quality and action photos
• Ability to communicate/announce via public address systems
• Successful experience collaborating with campus marketing and communications for recruitment, alumni relations and advancement as well as branding is a plus.
