The University of Maryland Assistant Director of Athletics Photography will assist the Associate AD/ Strategic Communications Officer in developing high-performing digital imagery and packaged content for the Terrapins’ official website, digital, and social channels, with a focus on football. This position will work heavily with the Creative Director for Football on a wide range of football shoots of both current and future Terrapins. The Assistant Director will also shoot, produce and post in-game and pre/post-game imagery, and cover practices, facilities, team and donor events for the rest of Maryland Athletics. He/she will be significantly involved in recruiting shoots for all sports, specifically football.
The Assistant Director of Athletics Photography will be responsible for dynamic high-quality portrait images for recruiting, marketing, branding and external collateral, working closely with the communications, marketing, broadcast & production, and creative design staffs. He/she will assist the Associate AD/ Strategic Communications Officer to determine multimedia project needs, requirements and timelines. He/she will also assist with the athletic department’s digital asset management system, properly identify and archive images, and be social-media friendly with the creation of images.
This position will report to the Associate AD/ Strategic Communications Officer with a dotted line to the Creative Director for Football, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, experience, and training and a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in sports photography is required. Demonstrated talent for high-quality photography, both action and still/portrait. Demonstrated ability with recruiting and marketing photoshoots. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and prioritize tasks based on departmental priorities. Must work closely and respond to the needs of various constituencies throughout campus. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays (non-standard work hours/days) as well as occasional travel.
Experience in creating image-based storytelling content; Experience with lightning and arranging of high-level photography shoots; Experience managing a large database of digital images strongly preferred. Previous experience working in college athletics or professional team sports is preferred. Experience working with a NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) solutions company (i.e., Opendorse, INFLCR) preferred.
