Cedar Crest College offers an outstanding opportunity for an energetic professional to lead our growing Department of Athletics. The Director will provide dynamic, strategic and visionary leadership to enhance the athletic department, actively recruit student athletes, provide administrative oversight to all varsity athletics, club sports, and intramurals, as well as collaborate with local community partners for athletic related opportunities. The Athletic Director has oversight of our Falconplex sports complex and fitness center. The AD hires, supervises, mentors and leads well-trained, highly-qualified coaches and staff to ensure that all areas of the department effectively function to further departmental goals and enhance the student athlete experience. The AD will work to fundraise and seek sponsorships that benefit the department and the College. This is a full-time, administrative position reporting directly to the President. The successful candidate will continue to promote the importance of the student-athlete experience, enhance the leadership and strength of the coaching and leadership staff, engage with a highly-supportive faculty and staff, continue to build the infrastructure needed to support the growth of student-athletes on campus.

Cedar Crest is a Division III, four-year independent liberal arts college for women with 11 Varsity sports, including the recent addition of wrestling, scheduled to begin in Fall 2022. Cedar Crest is a member of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the Atlantic East Conference. Coming in second this year in our athletic conference for the President’s Cup, the College has been the recipient of the Institutional Academic Award from the CSAC conference for 2018-19 and 2020-21. Seventy-two percent of our student athletes receive all-academic awards, with an overall grade point average of 3.392. The athletics department has received 12 coach of the year, 6 player of the year, 7 rookie of the year, 4 championship, and 7 runner up awards since 2015. Our growth in student athletes has doubled over the same period of time and comprise approximately 30% of each new class. Nine teams have set new school win records. Our facilities include three buildings and an athletic complex that are located adjacent to each other. A 24/7 turfed and lighted facility and fieldhouse, a gymnasium and aquatic center support the needs of each of our athletic teams. Additional expansion of our athletic complex is planned in the College’s comprehensive campaign, Educate, Elevate, Empower to provide a 24/7 softball complex/fieldhouse and gymnasium expansion to support the growing needs for indoor space.

A master’s degree and five or more years of progressive athletic administrative experience in a higher education setting are required.  Comprehensive knowledge of Division III athletic recruitment and a demonstrated record of success in recruiting student-athletes and working collaboratively within the campus community are essential. Strong knowledge of coaching, student programs, supervision and human resources management, fiscal management, fundraising, and strategic planning are also required.  The successful candidate will be available to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends during the academic year.
