Private Markets to join the
New Product Development and Research Team as a
Senior Director. This Senior Director level position is for an expert in private market data and workflows enriched by the same. The successful hire will report to the Head of New Product Development and Research, a team within Company Information Services (CIS) and part of the Data, Valuation, and Analytics (DVA) organization within S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Successful candidates will have deep private market experience and understanding, and have a passion for, private markets. In addition, candidates should be able to work well in a team, be highly self-motivated with the ability to execute independently. The successful hire will posit new products, determine product go/no-go criteria and assist with go-to-market strategy for successful projects.
The Impact: The New Product Development and Research team brings industry leading products to market, which enhance client workflows in investment management, investment banking, private markets, commercial banking and insurance, and non-financial corporate and professional services. Ideation is inspired by client conversations, industry conferences, the internal research team, external research publications, new technologies, third-party fintech partners, and more.
Ideas are nourished through a prototype phase, where the successful hire will guide a data specialist on execution. Prototype results inform on the potential product profitability, salability, use cases and go/no-go criteria. Along with others, the successful hire will help size and cost to market the new product opportunity. Opportunities that are pursued will require coordination with a solutions architect and developers to productionize, as well as coordination on go-to-market activities. The successful hire will participate in client meetings with commercial teams to facilitate successful product launches.

Members of the S&P Global New Product Development and Research Team are experts in conceiving and building client solutions. Spanning public and private markets, the team leverages data inside the S&P Global data ecosystem and enriches it with new external data to create novel solutions that inform the client workflow. Client use cases span investment management, investment banking, private markets, commercial banking and insurance, and non-financial corporate and professional services. The team operates as part of Company Information Services, which provides data and analytics that enable clients to make important decisions. Team members are well regarded by colleagues throughout the organization and can expect to collaborate with other teams including data science, technology, quantitative analytics, research signals, and others.

Responsibilities: - Ideation on private markets solutions with an emphasis on related client workflows. Identifies and resolves complex problems in business and product development to improve revenue generation and business growth.
- Collaborate across Company Information Services and work with Head of New Product Development and Research to identify business opportunities consistent with the business strategy. Collaborations to include strategy, private markets product management, core markets business devleopment, and Asia Pacific business development.
- Design prototypes and establish go/no-go criteria for proposed products. Translate business requirements for technical teams to execute and interpret technical results in business context.
- Identify priority areas for research team to drive new product development. Interpret research results and turn research findings into new product concepts.
- Specify use cases and analysis to vet alternative data sets from third parties (executed by data specialist).
- Collaborate with colleagues in data science, technology, quantitative analytics, research signals, content, and information technology to drive prototype and production processes.
- Present externally at industry events, professional associations, and client events.
- Provide thought leadership on projects and help identify value for clients.
Job Requirements: - Graduate degree in finance, technology, data science, business development or related (or equivalent industry experience)
- 12+ years experience with private markets data
- 12+ years experience with new product development and/or fintech products
- Proven track record of expertise in private market client workflow
- Familiarity with alternative data, textual or unstructured data, and analytical data techniques for financial technology applications
- Able to establish credibility with clients and fellow team members as an expert in private markets and the client workflow
- Familiarity with private markets data consumer / client persona and ability to estimate product market value
- Technical and/or programming skills strongly preferred (such as ClariFI, Excel, Python, SQL)
- Strong presentation skills
- Passion for data, private markets, and new product development; Intellectual curiosity and inquisitiveness
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $121,600 to $238,600. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus/a sales commission plan.
