This position also performs other duties as assigned by both the Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations as well as the Deputy AD.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain natural grass and artificial surfaces often working without direct supervision;
• Under the direction of the field supervisor, responsible for aspects of turf maintenance including but not limited to: mowing, lining of fields, aerification, seeding, fertilization, weed control, and weed eating;
• Heavy involvement and leadership in the planning and execution event management operations;
• Assist in the maintenance of all athletics facilities equipment;
• Make recommendations to the Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations for repair, replacement, and additions to equipment inventory;
• Restore athletics fields damaged by weather, use, or other conditions, to a level commensurate with that expected by the high standards of the College;
• Supervision of work-study employees involved with home athletic events and athletics laundry;
• Assist with the maintenance, care, and enhancement of all athletics facilities;
• Assist with the security of athletics facilities;
• Willingness to work nights and weekends throughout the year;

Marginal Job Duties:

• Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  Education and Experience

  High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; educational background in facilities management and/or sport management a plus, as is previous experience within an intercollegiate facilities and operations setting.  Valid driver’s license required; the ability to become certified to spray herbicides in the state of Kentucky also required. 

  Knowledge and Skills

   

  • Ability and willingness to obtain CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification preferred;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and foster a cooperative environment;
  • Ability to use tools associated with field maintenance and knowledge of irrigation systems preferred;
  • Knowledge and experience in the area of athletics facilities;
  • Good communication skills, creativity, and a desire to solve critical problems a must;
  • Desire to be part of a fast-paced, team-oriented intercollegiate athletics department;
  • Expectation of continuing education through state and national sports turf organizations. 

  Physical Requirements:

  Physical requirements of pushing, pulling, and lifting.  Lifting could be of 100 lbs. or more.

  Mobility on campus necessary.
