Summary Position Elon University is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Assistant Director of Development, Donor Experience. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Development for Donor Experience is responsible for planning, organization, and daily operations of donor engagement and stewardship opportunities on behalf of Elon Athletics.

General Purpose of Position Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Development for Donor Experience is responsible for planning, organization, and daily operations of donor engagement and stewardship opportunities on behalf of Elon Athletics.This position oversees the development and implementation of events, auctions, and other engagement activities related to Phoenix Club members while working with venues, vendors, sponsors, committees, volunteers, donors, staff, leadership, and other constituents to meet and exceed the goals of Elon Athletics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Plan, implement, and evaluate all events for the Phoenix Club and Elon Athletics to include, but not limited to:· Night of the Phoenix· Donor stewardship events· Road tailgates and pregame socials· Championship receptions· Thank-a-Thon· Sport specific alumni reunions· Phoenix Club Advisory Board meetings· Golf tournaments
2. Develop and execute the Phoenix Club stewardship strategy including:a) Coordinating and executing the “Daily Gift Report” thank you notes for donors below the $1,500 giving levelb) Executing the annal student-athlete Thank-a-thon event at the end of each fiscal yearc) Coordinating all stewardship related efforts outlined in the Phoenix Club membership levels matrixd) Strategically develop and implement an annual plan and calendar of stewardship that elevates and impacts the Phoenix Club and Elon Athletics donor experience at all levels of giving
3. Former Student-Athlete Engagementa) Serve as the event liaison to all coaches relative to alumni engagement; work with each program to organize sport-specific alumni reunions and provide guidance, best practices and support in the area of alumni engagement for our sport programsb) Work the Assistant Director for the Development and the Assistant AD for Annual Giving on developing and executing an engagement and solicitation plan to reach the annual Former Student-Athlete giving participation goal
4. Manage all event communications, including:a) Collaborate with Assistant Director of the Phoenix Club to determine appropriate communication schedule, methods and populations for all events (including social media, website, email, and hard mailing)b) Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Alumni Engagement to ensure chapter presidents have relative event information
5. Manage all event data, including:a) Create all events in NetCommunityb) Create all invitation listsc) Share attendee list with key internal constituents prior to each eventd) Provide post-event reports in line with Phoenix Club membership goals
6. Manage all event logistics, including:a) Identify and coordinate all catering, furniture, and rental needsb) Implement and oversee Phoenix Club student game day/event intern programc) Work closely with campus constituents in planning and implementation of events including physical plant, catering, etc.
7. Assists the Director of the Phoenix Club with annual fund execution and strategy developmenta) Ensure event activity helps move the Phoenix Club towards annual goalsb) Assist with solicitation and communication with donors and prospectsc) Assist with event content creationd) Assist in improving Phoenix Club stewardship program and membership experiencese) Actively participate in Phoenix Club Advisory Board meetingsf) Work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, development and advancement staff, and Elon constituents to cultivate and solicit donors for athletics prioritiesg) Collaborate with University Advancement Assistant Directors to advocate for and represent Athletics
8. Complies with all University and CAA regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and CAA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited.
Education and Experience BS/BA required; 1-2 years of related event management experience and master’s degree preferred.
