The Director of Olympic Sports Performance is responsible for the strategic vision and leadership of the Olympic Sports Performance unit, and the physical development specific to each sport for the University of Utah’s Olympic sports student-athletes. The Director will manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Olympic Sports Performance unit with the expectation of collaborating with cross-functional groups, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, PAC-12 and University of Utah rules and regulations. This position will ensure the continued advancement of the Olympic Sports Performance unit in supporting the University of Utah Athletics department’s mission to promote a culture of excellence that optimizes the student-athlete experience, and best positions our students for success in the classroom, competition, and community.
This position reports to the Deputy Athletics Director for Internal Operations, and Chief Operating Officer.
Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science related field required. Master’s degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience working with collegiate and/or professional sport
Experience in a management and/or leadership role
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association required or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA)
Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications
Strong experience and knowledge of NCAA and PAC-12 conference rules and regulations
Experience working with a variety of sport performance technologies (Force Plates, Opto Jump, GPS and heart rate monitoring, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills i.e. proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
